ADEGA DO MONTE BRANCO

In 2004, Adega do Monte Branco was established with a simple mission: focusing on Portuguese grape varieties, authentic wines, and respect for nature. The most important part of their work is centered in the vineyard. Every day at Adega do Monte Branco, they strive to return to the authenticity that defines their vision of Alentejo: pure soils, authentic grape varieties, and a continuous path toward sustainability.

The wines from Adega do Monte Branco are mainly produced from national grape varieties. They believe that the key to creating great wines lies in respecting the history and authenticity of the raw materials. Sharing this same vision, the winemakers are dedicated to seeking balance and freshness in the wines, working together to develop a sustainable project.

The 46 hectares of vineyard soils play a key role in shaping the wines’ profile. The deeper and more fertile limestone soils produce grapes with greater balance and freshness, while the slate soils, more rugged and austere, yield grapes with higher concentration and minerality.

Among the red grape varieties, they grow Aragonez, Trincadeira, Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Nacional, Castelão, and Tinta Miúda. For white varieties, they have planted grapes like Roupeiro, Arinto, and Antão Vaz.

Adega do Monte Branco blends seamlessly into the Alentejo landscape. The winery building contrasts with the old mill, creating harmony between the past and the present. It was constructed with sustainability and efficiency in mind.

Inspired by what nature offers, they craft their strategies for wine production from there.
