TAPADA DE COELHEIROS

Created in 1981, Herdade dos Coelheiros is a family-owned company that, over the years, has achieved recognition for the production of wines of unquestionable quality, both nationally and internationally. Its history of excellence began with the launch of the first wine labeled Tapada de Coelheiros in 1991.

The organic farming approach they carry out is a commitment for the company. Chemical synthesis products are not used, but instead, subtle crop management practices are used.

Less is more – and at the winery this maxim is taken very seriously. The focus is on manual work, the quality of the wood and respect for each thing’s time. On a reduced production scale, parcel vinification and prolonged bottle aging are carried out.

We respect the raw material, monitoring and managing it with respect and detail, with minimal use of technology. Gentle aging in wood takes time and requires patience – and this dedication can be felt in the wines.

There are a total of 9 vineyards that have an organic certificate in common but, other than that, none of them are the same, they are all unique. There are vineyards that are four decades old and others that are months old. The soils vary: some are more sandy and loamy, others clayey, some have a granite base, others quartz. There are 53 scattered hectares, 60% rainfed. Native grape varieties and those with better acidity levels or lower alcohol content are favored.

The varieties present: Alicante Bouschet (AB), Touriga Franca (TF), Touriga Nacional (TN), Cabernet Sauvignon (CS), Petit Verdot (PV), Tinta Miuda (TM), Syrah (S), Arinto (A), Roupeiro (R), Antão Vaz (AV), Chardonnay (C), Alvarinho (AL).

In Tapada de Coelheiros there are also 650 hectares of cork oak forests, 2 hectares of traditional olive groves, walnut orchards and a pine forest.

RAVASQUEIRA

Linked to the José de Mello family for three generations, Ravasqueira has around 3000 hectares of diverse and rich landscape that offers unique conditions to produce great wines.

It is in the vineyards and in the Particular Carriages Museum that much of Ravasqueira’s history is told. Travel through centuries of history, learn about the curiosities that make our wines unique through a walk in the vineyard, followed by a wine tasting and let yourself be surprised.
